Working in this global business environment where they engineer, manufacture, assemble and supply some of the highest quality automotive systems in the world to some of the leading global OEM customers, the Injection Moulding Technical Leader will provide operational support and process improvement to a state of the art high volume injection moulding manufacturing facility.
This is a key role within a fast-paced engineering function and includes a range of the following activities;
Optimise robot programming creating generic programming where possible and utilising robots to full effect (de gating, de-flashing, stacking programmes, tool change positions etc.)
Control robot end of arm tooling, TPM alignment
Identify and manage Cost Down initiatives (in addition to cycle time improvements), introduction of re grind etc
Uphold the principles of 5s for all machines, ancillaries, driers etc
Track all cycle times / part weights / drier through puts, purge waste etc
Provide holiday / absenteeism cover for shift technicians
Coordinate and plan tooling changes to ensure optimum manning levels are used
Ownership and control of IM machines, driers and trailer and tool storage 5S
Update IMM running status; coordinate twice daily production status review with Cell Leaders
Forward plan production to cover through nightshift including appropriate contingency plan
Coordinate Tooling and Maintenance tool / machine release & PFU reviews
Customer (Assembly) supply maintained in line with requirements
Improve IMM skill level through development of technician skills matrix
The ideal Injection Moulding Technical Lead and will have a proven background within an injection mould manufacturing and engineering environment, ideally automotive biased with a solid understanding of high volume complex manufacturing based production. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and TS/IATF 16949 would be highly advantageous.
You will be a driven problem solver and have both technical capability and able to mentor and support the technicians but also retain a hands on approach to your role when required to meet the production demands.
