My client, a leading provider of logistics within the distribution industry, are looking to recruit a Head of Fleet to oversee manage compliance across their UK multi-site network.

The successful Head of Fleet will be working for an extremely well-established company who have been a market leader in their field for a number of years. The company has always followed a policy of expansion and substantial investment in their facilities across the UK is planned over the next 12-18 months.

The Head of Fleet will be responsible for monitoring and developing the effectiveness of the logistics function at each of the group's locations. As the Head of Fleet, part of your time will be spent away from the office as you will be required to visit some the group's locations and fleet suppliers around the UK. You will ensure compliance with driver's hours according to Working Time Directive, ensuring that all operations are carried out in line with UK and EU Laws and regulations governing vehicle safety. Ensuring roadworthiness of all vehicles and trailers through proper maintenance and where necessary organising vehicle and trailer replacements and disposals. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating maintenance contracts and ensuring warranty issue are addressed. You will be asked to provide relevant information and advice to assist in the formulation of site transport budgets.

As the successful Head of Fleet you are likely to have significant experience in fleet management, managing a multi-site operation of a large fleet of vehicles.

  2. Had exposure to budgets and financial controls;
  3. Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC);
  4. Understand safe methods of loading and unloading;
  5. Have commercial knowledge of vehicles;
