Gleeson have partnered with a leading B2B Infrastructure business on a retained basis to recruit a Head of Communications into their growing team; A market leader in their field, my client delivers critical and complex infrastructure projects across rail, road, nuclear and energy.

As the Head of Communications, play a pivotal part in shaping the company culture, and providing clear engaging communications to circa 2000 employees across the UK. You will lead a small team and be responsible for defining and delivering the overall internal communications strategy with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive culture that inspires employees. This role will all include the oversight of external communications, brand image and PR.

The Role:

  • Working across 4 business units internally, you will define and deliver the communications strategy ensuring all messaging in aligned, and captures the company's values.
  • Act as the strategic partner to senior stakeholders across the business, work with them to align key messages, as well as advising and influencing on employee engagement.
  • Develop a robust communications plan, ensuring consistency of messages across a diverse audience.
  • Adapt and contextualise communications and message for a range of employees and audiences.
  • Work closely with business leads to ensure the internal and external tone of voice and style is reflected.
  • You will be responsible for brand image externally, ensuring social media and website design is engaging and effective.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience delivering a communications strategy across both internal and external channels.
  • Experience working in a complex organisation, with varying audience (field based and office based).
  • Be able to prioritise and working in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent written communications skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with and influence senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Specific knowledge and experience of online and offline communications techniques.
  • Evidence of improved employee engagement outcomes and behavioural change following employee communications activity.
