Gleeson Recruitment Group are currently working with a leading Financial Services Business based in Birmingham for a Group Financial Accounting Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the Financial Accounting Team and organise resources to complete their work effectively and within budget.
  • Project manage the reporting processes across Group Finance, which includes:
    • Statutory group and subsidiary Annual Report and Accounts
    • Quarterly and Annual Regulatory Reporting
  • Advise on the key accounting and reporting judgements within Group Finance, including the reporting of these key judgements to Senior Management and Audit Committee.
  • Manage the Group's relationship with its external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Provide robust oversight and challenge of the Society and subsidiary monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure they are well controlled, and issues are promptly highlighted.
  • Ensure that all accounting controls reports, and processes are compliant with professional and regulatory standards.
  • To manage the Corporation and VAT tax calculations and ensure compliance with tax matters to support the Group Finance Director
  • Seek and lead opportunities in continuous improvement, streamlining reporting and processes where possible
  • Prepare reports for the Head of Finance, and draft Reports to the Board, Executive and various Board or Executive Committees as appropriate.
  • Responsibility for other projects driven by financial accounting e.g., group restructuring and simplification

We are looking for

  • An experience qualified senior accountant
  • Full understanding and proven experience of statutory an regulatory reporting - preferably within financial services
  • A good understanding and experience of corporation, capital gains tax and VAT
  • Strong communication, people management and development skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Ability and motivation to deliver tasks under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving and business analysis skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative
