Gleeson Recruitment Group are excited to be supporting an established SME based in Hereford in their search to recruit a qualified Financial Accountant. Offering a salary of circa £50,000 plus an extensive benefits package and hybrid working, you will be a key member of the finance team and liaise closely with the board.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in VAT and tax, alongside the ability to adapt to different projects within the team as required. You'll have the opportunity to put your mark on this business, with the finance team looking for someone with initiative and the agility to drive improvements across the business. You will have direct access to the board so communication is key! You will have fantastic communication skills and be able to demonstrate working alongside challenging stakeholders, with positive results at the end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical accounting support across the wider finance team
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, up to board level
  • Accountable for the prep of annual statutory accounts, including audit and tax files
  • Liase with the auditors to manage efficiently
  • Submit monthly tax returns
  • Run payroll including the calculation of SSP, SMP and completion of P60's, P45's and P11D's
  • Review the balance sheet on a monthly basis alongside the Management Accounting team
  • Review and maintain the fixed asset register
  • Focus on continuous improvement to reinforce positive behaviors to support business growth

About You:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Demonstrable experience of working with stakeholders
  • Ability to drive improvements across a team whilst contributing positively to team culture
  • Out of the box thinking - be proactive and positive when looking at problems or ways to improve
