This is a high-profile Finance Director (FD) opportunity in the West Midlands. This role will serve as the business partner and strategic advisor to the Business Lead/ General Manager. The formal reporting line is into the Divisional CFO and with a strong reporting line to the Business Lead. Working closely with the rest of the Executive Leadership Team, the FD will assume responsibility for all aspects of the business segment. This involves analysing financial performance, advising the senior management team on these findings, and implementing recommendations.
This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting turnaround opportunity to improve profitability, and the critical path is to drive efficiency and cost reduction throughout the business. Accountable for the day-to-day financial operations and long-term strategy, key responsibilities will include:
- As a member of the executive team, advising the GM and senior management team on all matters relating to financial performance
- Responsibility for the financial direction, management, and reporting of the business
- Robustly review the financial, commercial, and contractual risks in opportunities
- Provide financial support and guidance to the Engineering & Programme Team
- Support the development, evaluation, and management of risk across programmes and into the financials of the business
- Build, coach and develop a high performing finance team
- Ensure adherence to all corporate policies and provide confidence in the controls and operating environment across the business
- Play an active role in the leadership of best practice and support the wider finance team journey of operational excellence
For this Finance Director opportunity in the West Midlands, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and must have worked in an industrial manufacturing/engineering business with a proven track record as a strategic financial business partner.
Experience of working as part of a large team on programmes including assessment and valuation of programme risk is highly desirable, as well as working across multiple geographies, including an appreciation for cultural diversity.
The role requires an FD who has the strength of character to challenge whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner. It is also important that you are comfortable leading change, capable of influencing at all levels and understand what a best-in class finance function looks like within a large corporate environment.
This is a turnaround opportunity to improve profitability. The critical path is to drive efficiency and cost reduction and previous experience in doing so will be essential.
You will need to demonstrate a strong commercial acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic discussions and support the long-term growth potential. The ability to produce clear and concise narrative will be essential.
A successful track record in establishing high performing finance teams will also be important, and an ability to manage complex and diverse environments, whilst still promoting a culture of continuous improvement, as a dynamic and hands-on leader.
They are able to offer a flexible/ hybrid working pattern. They recognise that flexibility is important and fully support that agenda. In return, some flexibility to travel overseas will be required, but minimal.
