GRG Executive Search has been retained to fulfil an exciting Finance Director role based in the West Midlands with responsibility for the largest, highest profile and most profitable division within a fast growth Private Equity backed Technology business. You will be part of the leadership team as the business moves through its next cycle of growth to sale/exit.
About Our Client
Our client is a market leading UK fast growth Technology company, they have a proven technological edge over their competitors and high aspirations to grow into softer and less mature European markets.
Following recent Private Equity investment, the client has a clear strategy to deliver 30% year on year growth with a view to ultimately exiting the business in circa five years. Already a highly successful business, looking ahead, future growth across the wider Group will be derived through accelerating organic growth of existing businesses, targeted acquisitions and strategic focus on new targeted European markets.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the FD of this high-profile division (as well as number two in Finance in the Group) is a crucial strategic and operational role at the heart of the business. Working closely with the CFO and the rest of the Executive Leadership Team, the FD will assume full responsibility for all financial aspects of the division as well as advising the Leadership Team and implementing recommendations to drive profitable growth for the business and wider Group.
Accountable for the day-to-day financial operations and long-term strategy, key responsibilities will include:
- As a member of the local operating board and executive team, advising the CFO and senior management team on all matters relating to financial performance
- Supporting the senior team to create growth strategies and plans
- Supporting the CFO with M&A activity as required
- Leading, motivating and developing a strong finance team
- Leading the budgeting, forecast and planning process
- Leading and developing Board Reporting and MI
- Ensuring a robust financial control and compliance environment is maintained, including responsibility for finance systems development
- Overall lead on all financial and accountancy matters
- Accountable for delivering the statutory external audit
- Accountable for all Tax matters relating to the Division
- Responsibility for IT development and supporting the implementation of a new ERP system
For this Finance Director opportunity in the West Midlands, you will be a graduate calibre qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and preferably from a Rental/Leasing/Contracting background with experience of leading a finance function. The role requires an FD who has the strength of character to challenge whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner. It is also important that you are comfortable leading change, capable of influencing at all levels and understand what a best-in class finance function looks like. Allied to this, ideally you will have hands-on experience of ERP systems and some prior involvement with an implementation.
You will need to demonstrate a growth mindset, strong commercial acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic discussions to support and drive the short/medium term growth targets. The ability to translate the numbers and produce clear, concise and commercially focused narrative will be essential.
A successful track record in establishing high performing finance teams will also be important, and an ability to manage complex and diverse environments, whilst still promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
