Position: Finance Analyst

Company: Leading Retailer in Redditch

As a Finance Analyst at a leading retail company in Redditch, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team in making informed business decisions. You will be responsible for analysing financial data, identifying trends, and providing valuable insights to drive financial performance and growth. Your role will involve collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to optimise financial processes and ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis to assess the company's performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability. Identify key trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.

  2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures, identify variances, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

  3. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

  4. Cost Analysis: Analyse cost structures and cost drivers within the organisation. Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and process optimisation.

  5. Financial Modeling: Develop financial models to support business planning, investment decisions, and scenario analysis. Provide insights and recommendations based on various financial scenarios.

  6. Variance Analysis: Monitor and analyse financial results, highlighting significant variances from budget or forecasts. Investigate and explain the reasons behind the variances.

  7. Data Management: Maintain and update financial databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Develop and implement efficient data collection and reporting processes.

  8. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and procurement, to understand business requirements, provide financial guidance, and support decision-making.

  9. Ad hoc Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required. Provide decision support to management by evaluating financial implications of potential business initiatives.

Candidate profile below:

  • Proven experience as a Finance Analyst or similar role in the retail industry is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and reporting standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
