This global £300M+ TO high-volume manufacturer and distributor of construction products has a truly UK wide manufacturing footprint with a number of low to medium and high volume facilities providing a mix products to a global customer base.

Reporting to the UK Operations Manager, the Factory Manager will be responsible for a small but highly skilled team of skilled team within a fast paced and highly automated heavy industrial environment where they produce a high volume product for a demanding customer base. You will be responsible for the delivery of products manufactured to the highest possible quality standards and produced at the lowest possible cost. This is a key time in the Factory's development as there are a number of planned investments to improve the factory's efficiency and enhance its competitiveness within our markets.
The duties of the Factory Manager will include;

Leadership of a team of 4 direct reports and around 22 people in total across the site.
People management and motivation to create a flexible, effective and multi-skilled workforce across all disciplines.
Preparing and managing the Factory's annual budget ensuring that all planned spend is correctly costed and cash flow managed in accordance with the company's fiscal policies.
Ensuring that the Factory 5-year plan is continually updated and delivered.
Rigorous application of the group Manufacturing System to deliver continuous improvement across all of factory operations and exceed all KPI's.
Working with the factory team to identify, submit and then implement suitable capital improvement projects to deliver efficiency or safety improvements.
Working collaboratively across all support functions to utilise specialist support to deliver key projects.
Developing new products that will ensure that the business stays at the forefront of market trends and complies with all current and future environmental and sustainability developments.
Implementing the Sustainability Roadmap and driving sustainable performance at site level.

In order to head up this site and team, they require an inspirational leader to manage, motivate and develop the factory manufacturing team where continuous improvement is at the heart of all operations. The ideal person will be an exceptional communicator, commercially astute and a customer champion, able to deliver our production targets against the highest health and safety, quality, environmental and cost expectations. The safety of our people is of the utmost importance and working safely is the only way we operate. The most suitable individual will have a strong mix of the following skills and experience;

Excellent leadership and coaching skills with a proven ability to develop an experienced manufacturing team to increase efficiency across the factory whilst surpassing customer expectations.
Exposure to a CAPEX led and automated production environment would be highly advantageous.
The ability to analyse and interpret data to identify key trends and opportunities to increase profitability.
Demonstrable application of problem-solving tools and techniques to deliver efficiency improvement
Able to implement and drive performance improvement using lean tools, KPIs and visual management
An in-depth knowledge of current Health and Safety, Environmental and Employment Laws and best practice application of these within a manufacturing environment
NEBOSH qualified (or equivalent)
Sound engineering knowledge
ILM5 or equivalent

You will be a leader of people and a driver of best practice who is able to affect change and bring others along with the vision you create and implement. Cultural change begins with best practice and a continuous improvement mindset and so this will be key. The business aspires to operate to world class standards and therefore a fully comprehensive training plan will be implemented to address any necessary skills development to ensure you are as effective as possible in this role and the progression roles that are to come.
