About the Position

This is a high-profile European Finance Director opportunity in South West. You will be a key member of the Regional Senior Leadership team. Reporting to the Group CFO, and with a strong dotted line as a trusted strategic business partner to the European Managing Director, to drive the growth of the European region.

This role is crucial in helping to set the finance strategy for the European business, supporting the Region in achieving its strategic growth and performance objectives and developing the Regional Finance teams.

You will require an ability to operate effectively as part of a team, demonstrating excellent leadership to the Regional Finance and Business Operations teams. You will need to proactively build successful working relationships and operate at multiple levels. At a strategic level, you will be developing the vision, structures, controls, and processes to support high business growth, and at a hands-on level, supporting the region's understanding of its performance against budget, plan, and targets. This will include the provision of timely and accurate operational and financial management information and KPIs.

This role is one of transformation and you will have significant leadership responsibility. You will be expected to further develop the finance function around process optimisation and to design and restructure the team to create a centre of excellence around business partnering and commercial finance support.

The role will also play a key part in integrating the finance functions and processes of historical and future bolt on acquisitions, which are a key part of the region's growth plans.

The Successful Applicant

For this European Finance Director opportunity in South West, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven experience in a senior finance role where significant change and transformation has been at the core of your role, in a growing organisation.

Previous experience in a Consultancy business and the Professional Services industry is highly desirable.

The role requires an FD who has the strength of character to challenge whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner. It is also important that you are comfortable leading change, capable of influencing at all levels and understand what a best-in-class finance function looks like.

A demonstrable track record of defining effective finance strategy and managing significant finance teams (30+) will be important and ideally through change, including a systems implementation, process, and team changes.

Ideally, proven experience of operating as a Finance Director to a region or material business unit of a Group and with responsibility for dealing with overseas businesses and colleagues.

The role requires a strong relationship builder with personal credibility, and high impact communication and presentation skills, who can work at all levels and to influence wider business direction and decisions. You must also have a good balance of strategic vision and hands on operating style.

You will need to demonstrate strong analytical skills and be able to balance the need for analysis and rigour with speed for action when solving problems and assessing performance.

Flexible/hybrid working will be considered, but a regular presence in the Southwest and flexibility to travel to other key offices will be important.
