After a positive meeting with the GM of an independent-operating European subsidiary of a global manufacturing business, I have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager following a recent reorganisation of the leadership team. You will join the senior management team who as a group will be influential in the future development of the organisation; the Engineering function will be key to the success of the wider group.
Working closely with Operations you will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of Quality, Cost and Delivery targets set by the group, leading both Process Engineering and Maintenance Engineering, a total headcount in excess of 15. You will directly manage a group of Process Engineers, whereas the maintenance team reports through a Maintenance Manager. Maintenance Engineering is stable, whereas Process Engineering is seen as an opportunity for improvement.
The successful Engineering Manager will lead a review of the existing team, to understand which areas need leadership, which need coaching/development, and if there are any areas of weakness that might require recruitment. You will build a high-performing function with the ultimate aim of contributing to the wider goals of the business.
The successful Engineering Manager will have a background in world class manufacturing. You will ideally have proven experience leading change within a similar business and join equipped with the lessons learned from prior experience, but candidates simply with the right competencies will also be considered. Industry knowledge is not essential, and candidates will be considered from all sector backgrounds, however having either a mechanical or chemical process background would be an advantage. You will perfectly balance a robust leadership style with the need to absorb knowledge from the team and utilise experienced team members to the best of their ability - cultural change comes naturally to you and your people will buy in completely to the future direction of the team.
The factory runs 24/7 but you and your team will work flexibly in order to get the job done - this is a days role without the rigid constraints of a regular working pattern. Salary is approximately £60,000 to £70,000 and the package includes a bonus opportunity of 10% and a competitive company pension.
