Job Description

As the Finance Director, located at their offices in the Midlands, this is a key role reporting to the CFO with a dotted line as a trusted strategic business partner to the Divisional Managing Director (MD) to drive the growth of the UK business.

You will be the key right hand to the MD and the role will have a heavy focus on performance management and budgeting. You will need to ensure robust performance management, financial controls and budgeting processes are defined and executed to support the business' ability to adapt to market changes and to drive financial and business performance.

Decision support will be critical, and you will be responsible for delivering robust financial analysis and information to senior and local management teams to support the day-to-day operational performance and to deliver greater efficiencies in cost control.

You will be expected to work closely with the MD to develop and implement an appropriate strategy, identifying attractive investment options for consideration as well as initiating and delivering further efficiency projects to drive improved margins.

You will continue the development of a high performing finance function and will be a key member of the Finance Leadership Team in leading business success and the wider goals of organisational development and transformation.

The Successful Applicant

This Finance Director (FD) opportunity in the Midlands, requires a well-rounded commercially focused Finance leader with a track record of delivering results in a multi-site, operationally focused business. Candidates must have a demonstrable track record of defining effective strategy and leading teams to deliver operationally, allied to energy, strong influencing skills and the desire to drive positive change.

Candidates must be qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) and have proven experience in an FD role where significant change, transformation and improvement of business performance has been at the core of the role, plus a continuous improvement mindset with a focus on adding real value to a business.

Must also be commercially astute with an ability to support decision making in complex contractual environments and to work collaboratively with business operations and commercial teams. Business partnering is essential.

To be successful, candidates will need to be capable of supporting operational improvement with a view to driving margin growth.

The role requires a strong relationship builder with personal credibility, and high impact communication and presentation skills, who can work at all levels and to influence wider business direction and decisions.

In addition to having the ability to think strategically, candidates must also be willing to roll their sleeves up and get into the detail when needed.
