Our client is an international, market leading, private equity backed, B2C service provider headquartered in the Midlands. They are already one of the largest businesses in the UK, in their field. They will continue to expand and the appetite to invest will provide the opportunity to accelerate their growth, both organically and through acquisition, with a sustained period of M&A activity. This is a high-profile Director of Finance appointment located at the Midlands headquarters with a clear path through to a CFO role. As the most senior direct report of the CFO, you will act as their deputy or delegate as required. This is a key role in the UK leadership team at a critical time for the company as they embark on a sustained period of growth and M&A activity. Your ability to drive change as part of the leadership team will be essential.

Finance is at the heart of the company, and you will have significant leadership responsibility, leading the Finance Operations team. You will be responsible for overseeing all M&A from financial due diligence through to integration, financial transactions, treasury, cash flow forecasting and management, technical leadership, month end reporting and analysis and finally, statutory accounts and audit. The role is also one of transformation and you will be expected to develop and continuously improve the finance department to evolve with the business as it grows. This will include significant investment in changes to key systems, which will also create lots of opportunity. There will also be an emphasis around business partnering and commercial finance support.


For this high-profile Director of Finance opportunity in the Midlands you must be a qualified accountant (preferably ACA, or ACCA) with significant post qualified experience. Ideally you will have trained in the profession and now with considerable years industry experience, including excellent team leadership experience within a dynamic and commercial environment

Must have a proven track record of working for another large company, and with a preference for another fast paced, consumer facing organisation

Must be a well-rounded commercially focused finance leader, but with the emphasis still on your technical knowledge and it will be important that you can demonstrate robust up-to-date accounting standards knowledge. Experience of managing M&A from due diligence through to integration is also highly desirable

Deep experience in change management in a growing/ transforming organisation will also be important and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

The role also requires a director who has the strength of character to challenge whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner and is capable of influencing at all levels with outstanding stakeholder management skills

Technology implementation experience would also be advantageous and prior experience working in a US business applying US GAAP and SOX
