Scope of Role: In this role you will be provided with training and familiarisation with the Company's working practices and procedures. You will be working to develop and build test solutions, to be used in the test, repair and overhaul of a wide range of avionics and ground support equipment. This role requires working with technologies used in communication, navigation, radar, audio units, mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation, ground test equipment and battery chargers. Also a working knowledge of Industry Automatic Test Equipment (ATE). The role requires a level of commercial awareness and the ability to construct a business case to present to management, also a practical technical background in aircraft systems including Arinc 429 Architecture.
Main Duties/Responsibilities On receipt of a capability enquiry, undertake the development and building of test solutions, created from OEM (original equipment manufacturer) component maintenance manuals, schematic drawings, test procedures and other associated information. Understanding the testing required, and suggest/development of equivalent test solutions. Design and build electronic circuits with, as necessary, programmed devices. Develop test solutions using the Company's various Arinc 429 business tools. Research and develop software testing solutions, in accordance with the OEM recommended solution and equivalent. Able to articulate developed testing solutions, whether OEM or equivalent, and carry it through to approval. Investigate equipment needed for development of the testing solutions. Research items for BOM's and identify where to procure them from. Demand parts, following the normal Company purchasing procedures. Creation of test solution layout/drilling template using 2D drawing package (SmartSketch). Machining of test solution hardware with general workshop machine and hand tools. Population of test solutions with required components (i.e. switches, test points, etc). Creation of wiring looms and construction of test solutions. Carry out thorough verification and validation of test solutions against wiring diagrams or OEM unit/specifications, demonstrating equivalency. Attend training courses at OEM's and other companies as applicable in order to develop capability, both in UK and overseas. Work with colleagues within the workshops and Quality department to achieve successful delivery of test solutions.
You must be able/ have experience of:-
Able to understand wiring, design requirements to translate drawings into hardware solutions Practical experience to include soldering (both surface mount and through hole components), wiring, drilling, machining, basic mechanical skills i.e. use of hand and general workshop tools. Knowledge of repair documentation and schematic drawings Knowledge of UK and US terminology in technical manuals Demonstrate a strong desire to undertake structured training Knowledge of electronic circuits and the repair thereof Knowledge of RF circuits and the repair thereof Experience with 2D CAD Knowledge of or experience with Microprocessor programming Knowledge of or previous experience within an Avionics repairer and overhaul provider or OEM Knowledge of or previously worked in lean/process-change environments Knowledge of aircraft systems Commercial Aviation or Military background Understanding of regulatory requirements appertaining to the supply of product for the Aerospace industry, including test solutions. Working knowledge of a computer language attributable to development of testing solutions
