Data & Information Controller - £40K - £50K - Birmingham (Hybrid Working)

Gleeson Recruitment Group have been appointed by a UK based Global Retailer to find a Data & Information Controller to enhance business capability by driving the transformation of key company processes, systems and system skills, to achieve improved performance in line with the needs of their 5-year plan and international growth strategy.

You will take a lead role on their mission to create an environment where business data is accurately and centrally maintained to ensure continuity and accuracy of strategic business data usage/storage.

Responsibilities will include:

Business Data & Information system & Process changes

  • Evaluation of current business data position including SAP responsibilities, data quality, third-party data flows and controls
  • Implementation of strategic data management enhancements across the business promoting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement within the functional areas.
  • Ensure data is available to and presented well to our customers by ensuring adequate controls are in place for SAP extracts to and integrations with third-party/embedded systems.
  • Create and cement workflows into the business to allow for recorded authorisations and validations, where needed, for master data changes.

Project Management

  • Supporting the HoBT in ensuring that the agreed transformation projects are managed through to BAU delivery and documentation is detailed, accurate and auditable.
  • Connect with the wider business to promote our vision for change to build strong and positive relationships that will motivate stakeholders to engage in strategic growth projects.

Centralised Reporting

  • Evaluation of all current reporting tools and data sources within the business and ascertain relevance, continuity and accuracy.
  • Take ownership of developing world class centralised reporting capabilities with a clear objective to upskill business users to become more self-sufficient with departmental reporting.

Essential experience:

  • Proven ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure
  • Knowledge of wholesale and retail business processes and systems
  • A minimum of five years spent in a commercial environment with a good understanding of SAP and IT systems/Infrastructure
  • Warehouse operations experience/understanding within a commercial environment
  • SAP system knowledge, particularly Sales & Distribution, Materials Management and Finance
  • Project Management
  • Excellent IT systems skills - including MS Office with Advanced Excel skills, Management Information Systems, SAP, SQL, Qlik View/Qlik Sense (or another leading BI tool) and other business systems
