Gleeson Recruitment Group are looking to appoint an experienced Credit Supervisor for our client based in South Birmingham.

Job Purpose

Manage the credit control and accounts receivable function to ensure that all amounts owed are invoiced accurately and that debts are collected efficiently.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct line management of the credit control and accounts receivable team
  • Allocate available resources to ensure timely raising of sales invoices and efficient collection of debt
  • Report performance through relevant and insightful KPI dashboards
  • Ensure that all manual adjustments to the debtors ledger are accurate and have been approved
  • Manage the direct debit collection process and ensure that scheme rules are always complied with
  • Ensure that specific bad debt provisions are proposed on a timely basis and updated to the system following approval in line with LOA
  • Resolve unallocated and unidentified cash balances on a timely basis
  • Produce and maintain detailed process maps and notes for all credit control and accounts receivable processes
  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of credit control processes such as automated demand letters, legal escalation procedures and account reconciliations
  • Identify and implement additional reporting requirements to assess and improve data quality, for example invoicing completeness
  • Design and implement other process improvements
  • Ensure effective communication that enables engagement and enablement
  • Develop and ensure safe working practices

Experience, Skills and Knowledge required

  • Experienced credit control supervisor with relevant experience in accounts receivable
  • Strong people management skills including motivation and performance management
  • Ability to constructively communicate with and influence commercial colleagues
  • Strong control mindset
  • Good Excel skills
  • Good knowledge of general VAT processing and administration
  • Experience of process improvement, designing and implementing KPI measures and process controls
  • Emotionally resilient, able to confront and resolve issues as they arise


  • Experience of other ledger functions
  • Real Estate experience
  • Specific accounting qualification completed or in progress (e.g. AAT, ACCA)
