An opportunity has arisen for an accomplished individual to join our Business Improvement and Quality Team for the role of Continuous Improvement Engineer.

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the CI Engineer is tasked with delivery of key business projects (Operational & Capital projects) to enable improvements in customer and business added value. Provide training, mentoring and guidance to others in the business in the use of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.

The key areas of responsibility for the role are:

  • Delivery of business improvement projects through the application of Lean Six Sigma and appropriate project management tools.
  • Assist with the definition of potential projects to support the future growth of the business by identifying, quantifying and comparing potential projects (through statistical analysis / waste identification / elimination), and playing an active role in the prioritisation process.
  • Secure the appropriate business sponsorship for allocated improvement projects.
  • Actively identify potential risks & issues relating to the delivery of projects and manage a resolution process in a timely manner, only escalating major issues.
  • Work with business functions to develop and implement data gathering techniques to identify and rank opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Deliver training and provide mentoring support in Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen and workshop facilitation techniques, while being an exemplar of all of these skills among others.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous proven successful track record of delivering business improvement / operational excellence projects at Black Belt Level or a high level.
  • Experience of working with and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to lead a cross functional team.
  • Experience of working with relevant industry standards and management systems is essential, knowledge of EN9100 would be an advantage
  • Desirable Experience of working within the Defence Industry
  • Good customer relationship and interpersonal skills with an ability to work and communicate with people at all levels.
  • Strong IT Skills
  • Proactive, analytical and a logical problem solver
  • Confident, professional and autonomous individual
