Our client is a Private Equity backed specialist manufacturer, distributor, and services provider, operating in a niche, high-growth, regulated market. Based in Oxfordshire, they are a highly successful international group. There are several companies within the group, delivering a variety of specialist products and services. Already a market leader, the business is achieving rapid expansion and has delivered a strong financial performance, strengthened further by continued private equity investment.
The business has delivered year on year revenue and EBITDA growth, both through organic growth and acquisitions. As part of its continued growth, the company will continue to invest which will provide a platform for further expansion. This represents an exciting time to join the Board as the Chief Financial Officer. As a strategic business partner to the CEO, you will provide critical financial and commercial support to help achieve their growth ambitions.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be based at their Group Headquarters in Oxfordshire office and with the flexibility to work remotely, when appropriate. This represents a critical appointment, and you will work in partnership with the CEO and rest of the board to define and deliver a strategy that will deliver profitable growth and value creation. It is expected that you will add value operationally and commercially. As the CFO you will have autonomy in leading and developing a high-quality finance organisation, which provides effective support to the business. Key responsibilities will include -

  • Leading the businesses commercial finance activity, to enable and contribute towards a rapid growth strategy
  • You will have a critical role on all M&A decisions, organising due diligence and execution
  • Preparing and updating financial projections
  • Debt financing in coordination with private equity investors and CEO
  • Managing costs and identifying cost optimisation potential
  • Leading both the budgeting process and the annual audit for the business
  • Ensuring that appropriate financial controls are in place and that working capital is managed effectively


The successful candidate will be an experienced CFO ideally with some manufacturing and/or distribution experience and within a private equity (PE) environment. Must have end-to-end operational finance responsibility, and experience of being the strategic business partner to the CEO. A track record of making a difference by impacting the bottom line in either a large corporate or a PE backed environment will be important. In addition to being a technically capable, well-rounded accountant, it is also expected that you will be commercially aware and capable of helping to drive margin growth. You must also have a good balance of strategic vision and a hands-on operating style and support other Managers with decision making and strategy. Finally, a strong track record of leading high performing finance teams through periods of change.
