Would you like to take the Category Lead for one of the most prominent businesses in the Midlands where your direct input adds genuine value on a UK wide scale? The Category Manager will formulate, agree and implement Category and sourcing strategies for the Category of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and procurement of group goods and services, driving best value through the process and delivering measurable savings.

The Category Manager will be a key part of this small but highly experienced team and will be responsible for a mix of the following areas;

Sourcing Capital Equipment, Fitout and Refurbishment Projects
Sourcing Main and Specialist Contractors from various disciplines
Managing RFQ / Tender / Contract / Process Forms
Reviewing and agreeing terms and conditions
Capital investment appraisal
Manage various categories of spends
To lead, advise and influence stakeholders at all levels to adopt the most appropriate purchasing and category strategies for the sourcing of goods and services, across the group
Ensuring that best value is achieved and that measurable savings are delivered
Challenging the business to ensure that the specification / service level requirement truly reflects the business need
Evaluation of the supply market, identifying appropriate suppliers, supply trends and other factors that may affect the supply costs
Production of tender documents and management of the communication process throughout the tender period
Coordination and leadership of the formal evaluation process, advising on relevant evaluation criteria, documentation etc
Negotiation of the commercial contract to ensure the best prices and terms are obtained
Resolution of problems throughout the process
To analyse expenditure data producing category spend and trend reports
To review non-contract expenditure
The development of process documentation and tender templates with the objective of streamlining the purchasing process

You will be an experienced Category Management professional with a strong procurement background and a mix of civil and commercial contract negotiation with a good understanding of JCT/MF1 contracts would be ideal. You will be familiar with all aspects of tender and contract system management and a good working knowledge of the IT and Capital projects market.

A working knowledge of Ariba / E Procurement systems / Sage and Tableau is advantageous but not essential as would be a strong knowledge of categorisation and the analysis of spend.
