Responsible for margin and operational controls costs, in making month end postings, providing analysis to management account team managers on key cost drivers in and communicating with the wider business on a monthly basis.

Obtain a detailed understanding of expected spend and validate it is in line with budget expectations by speaking and challenging key stakeholders including the wider business and external suppliers.

The Role:

As a Assistant Management Accountant, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Ownership of month end postings in operational costs and margin to deliver regional and UK results.
  • Responsible for accuracy of costs incurred in the period.
  • Supervise key areas of the business in receiving supporting evidence for month end accruals.
  • Challenge key stakeholders including business areas and suppliers on validity in areas of Operational and margin costs.
  • Liaise with the wider business to proactively identify risks and opportunities within the budget and monthly result.
  • Responsible in providing accurate variance analysis against budget and monthly trends to middle and senior management to support the monthly result.
  • Challenge and investigate variances against budget reach out to the business to understand progress of cost initiatives or changes in business needs and communicate to management.
  • Ownership of a regional review ensuring allocations have been completed accurately and monthly result is supported and explainable.
  • Being a point of contact for operational controllers to deliver regional results of one of the 5 regions.
  • Accurate completion of allocated balance sheet reconciliations within the time frame allocated including documentation of supporting documentation.
  • Challenge the business to maintain the integrity of the financial ledger.
  • Provide adhoc support to the management accounts team to ensure accurate and robust reporting across the whole of the P+L.
  • Responsible for making postings into the accounting general ledger after review of transactions including the ability to identify accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger, whilst ensuring compliance in accordance with UKGAAP and group policies.
  • Completion of cost centre queries and ensure adequate information and support is provided to our branch managers
  • Ensure that all process documentation is robust and up to date

The Person:

  • 1 years experience in a similar role
  • Reasonable experience in a finance environment
  • Experience of working in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce and analyse financial/statistical data.
  • Evidence of a proactive approach with stakeholders and provide clear and appropriate communication.
  • Ability to look at the bigger picture and understand the wider implications.
  • Experience in identifying unusual transactions.

This role is a FULL TIME - FIXED TERM POSITION and offers a pension, life assurance and 25 days holiday.
