Applications Project Lead - Solihull - Hybrid working (2/3 days in office) £55K

Gleeson Recruitment Group are working with a global organisation who are looking for a Lead Applications Engineer to join then in their growth and transformation.

This role will act as deputy / second in command to the Applications Manager, bridging the gap between management and application delivery. They are looking for someone experienced in and application / system environment who has a good technical understanding and can implement frameworks to help with application delivery in line with the existing strategy.

This role sits withing the applications area and will be involved with the following:

  • Implement a framework to support system projects to accurately capture Stakeholder requirements, including user stories, process mapping and technical requirements
  • Meet with and manage suppliers & 3rd party vendors to understand project proposals and ensure offerings meet requirements
  • Deputise for the Application Services Manager in meetings or on site to progress Application initiatives supporting escalations, resource allocations and decision making
  • Identify resources and skill requirements to support system activities
  • Oversee implementation of new systems reporting on workstreams to ensure successful delivery; areas such as Data migration, Integrations, maintenance, support provision & risks
  • Define and document test processes & requirements to support technical delivery and validation of solutions as part of the project lifecycle and continuous improvement
  • Supervise testing resources to ensure compliance with process, defects and risks are being raised
  • Work with IT Architecture to create System Integration Maps, and Data flow
  • Work closely with technical teams at all levels (internal and external) to deliver System projects to ensure technical compatibility of the solutions and that requirements are being met
  • Implement and produce reporting to show key activities and status across BAU & Delivery
  • Support & co-ordinate system upgrade and large maintenance activities; ensuring SOP are followed and stakeholders are updated
  • Ensure that Service Transition processes are being adhered to for System activities and that appropriate support material is available for teams and users through the format of training, FAQs, process documentation and flows
  • Support Continuous Service Improvement through collaboration with the IT Applications Team and Associates, identifying opportunities and managing on the backlog

Experience needed:

  • 5+ years' experience in an IT Systems Team leading application delivery
  • 3+ years' experience in Stakeholder Management
  • Experience supporting system deliver through documenting testing processes, requirements gathering, user stories - having managed teams or resources in this field
  • Experience of and can promote the use of Prince 2, Agile, DevOps methodologies used in System project delivery
  • Forward thinker who can get behind IT System Strategy, and identify ways to overcome business challenges
  • Experience working in a B2B environment
