What you'll be doing

  • To manage the payables team on a day to day basis, currently a team of 3
  • To ensure suppliers are paid within the correct payment terms
  • To provide financial analysis over supplier payments and expenditure
  • To set appropriate procurement policies and supplier on-boarding and management in conjunction with the Financial Controller and Group Finance

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day to day management of the accounts payable team with direct line management of 3 staff
  • To ensure that the creditors' ledger is operated accurately, efficiently and to agreed timescale, and ensure that the creditors are paid accurately and on time
  • To ensure smooth operation of the weekly payment runs and adequate checks to ensure that the correct payments are made to the correct creditors
  • Ensure Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders have sufficient supporting evidence and relevant budget holder approval
  • Oversee the production of relevant weekly and monthly reports and prepare monthly financial analysis on payments and expenditure for presentation to internal stakeholders
  • To provide technical accounting advice on financial transactions and ensure accurate coding within the department and business as a whole
  • To be proactive and take initiatives to review and make suggestions to improve processes and procedures in relation to accounting systems.
  • reconciliation processes and procedures in accordance with accounting policies, financial regulations and best practice
  • To support ongoing development of our finance system and training of the procure to pay to the business as a whole
  • To provide excellent customer service, manage and maintain good relationship with the internal and external stakeholders, in particular our key suppliers
  • Assist the Financial Controller in conducting ad-hoc operational and financial analysis where required
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and functioning effectively

Your experience

  • Experience of managing an accounts payables team in a dynamic organisation
  • Relevant accounts payable knowledge and experience of control account reconciliations
  • Familiar with both transaction and management accounting functions
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Experience of working with multiple systems for day to day work

This role is available to start asap for the right candidate. £40,000 - £45,000 plus excellent benefits.
