We're recruiting for an accounts assistant to join a friendly, and successful business in Aston, Birmingham.

You will be joining a stable and steady finance team in a newly created position in finance due to the success and growth of the business. Reporting directly into the Finance Manager this role will be supporting all aspects of finance across purchase ledger, credit control and sales ledger.

The role is based in Aston with free car parking on site. You'll be expected to initially work full time in the office whilst training and learning the ropes of the role.

The Role

This is an exciting role likely to suit someone studying their AAT or a business administration qualification and has a keen interest in finance with some previous administratoin experience. You will have exceptional customer service skills and be someone who is happy to get involved with all finance administration.

Key responsibilities include - (full training will be given)

Purchase Ledger

  • Reconciliation of supplier statement reconciliations
  • Liaison with suppliers to resolve discrepancies
  • Three-way matching of purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices
  • Processing purchase invoices/credit notes
  • Maintain vendor details validation process

Credit Control

  • Working with the Credit Controllers to ensure that all payment queries are resolved
  • Investigating, validating and processing requests for credit and debit notes
  • Validating and processing invoices and credit notes
  • Creation of customer accounts

Sales Ledger

  • Ensure invoices accurately reflect the goods delivered through matching and processing proof of Delivery
  • Complete Aged Debtors, overdue and aged creditors reports and Overdue Debt

Skills and Experience

  • a minimum 12 months accounts admin experience
  • Strong IT skills including Excel
  • Confident communicating via telephone
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly
