Gleeson Recruitment Group are supporting a well known Stoke based business to recruit a Senior Management Accountant following business growth. The successful candidate will be joining a supportive environment who are industry leaders when it comes to offering development and professional growth. This is a unique opportunity for a fully qualified accountant to lead and develop a management accounting team within a dynamic and supportive environment. Working 3 days per week in the Stoke office with salary up to £55,000 + benefits.
Following a period of steady yet impressive growth, we are looking for qualified accountants who are confident with putting together a full set of Management Accounts to continue to drive forward improvements. You'll be supported by the Deputy Financial Controller, who is keen to bring on board an individual who can improve performance with a forward thinking attitude and super systems knowledge. As the Senior Management Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering a timely and accurate month-end process, ensuring robust financial control across the organisation (excluding treasury and tax). You will act as a deputy to the Deputy Financial Controller, providing support and guidance to the team and collaborating with key stakeholders to drive financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development: Manage and develop the management accounting team, coaching and mentoring to ensure effective delivery of month-end processes.
- Month-End Process Ownership: Oversee the month-end process, ensuring accurate postings and reviewing all journals for clarity and completeness.
- Control Accounts Management: Act as the technical expert on preparing best-in-class control accounts, ensuring robust backing and actionable insights.
- Systems & Process Development: Lead the development of financial systems and processes to strengthen cost capture and control.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain clear lines of communication between the management accounting team, Business Partners, Financial Reporting & Analysis Teams, and auditors.
- Systems Implementation: Serve as the SAGE system implementation lead for transactional processes, driving automation and enhanced system-based controls.
- Process Efficiency: Design and implement efficient, business-wide processes to enhance financial control.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in managing month-end processes within a large business.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams during periods of significant change.
- Strong track record in process design and improvement.
- Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation and ensure operational compliance with finance processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to present information clearly and accurately.
