Gleeson Recruitment Group is celebrating being named as the winner in the ‘Embrace’ category at the 2022 APSCo Awards for Excellence. The coveted annual awards are recognised across the sector as a badge of high quality and outstanding service, showcasing firms that are committed to delivering best-in-class recruitment. The ‘Embrace’ award is given annually to a recruitment company that goes above and beyond in their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, both in the way they treat their internal team, and the service they provide to clients and candidates.

The Gleeson team’s diversity and inclusion measures include regular internal training on anti-discrimination practices within recruitment, holding dedicated awareness months to discuss important issues such as neurodiversity in the workplace, and working closely with non-executive director Sheryl Miller, who is a well-known ED&I consultant and author. Gleeson is also committed to creating a truly welcoming and inclusive working environment for all team members, and has a range of wellbeing policies in place such as enhanced parental leave and a comprehensive menopause support policy.

Reflecting on the win, Co-Founder Jason Blakey said, “We’re over the moon to have been recognised in this way. Ever since the beginning, we’ve been committed to creating a service free from the types of bias that can too often plague the recruitment process. And the work is far from over – we’re committed to increasing the representation of minority communities in all sectors, and building a truly progressive world of work for all.”

Speaking of Gleeson’s achievement, the APSCo Awards judges commented, “This is a company with a truly progressive and forward-thinking equity, diversity and inclusion strategy. The judges felt that this business demonstrates exactly what recruitment companies should be doing in the marketplace, and their strategy truly embodies the APSCo Embrace values.”
